12-08-2019 THE RUSH OF CHRISTMAS

Luke 1:26-38, 2:8-20

What would have happened if the shepherds rushed to see Jesus, but on the way they got distracted by things of the world?

I. Why did the shepherds rush to Bethlehem?

1. They heard of something new, God had revealed himself to man.

2. They believed that seeing the baby would mean something to them.

II. Why should we rush to know Christ?

1. Because the birth of the Savior continues to be news until all know it.

2. Because we should be eager to get the gifts available for us:

A. The gift of __________- Matthew 11:28

B. The gift of _____________-John 14:27

C. The gift of _____________-John 3:16

D. The supreme gift was _______________

Closing: Have you rushed to Jesus, who is Christmas?

THREE PILLARS OF THANKSGIVING

COLOSSIANS 1:3-8

THREE PILLARS OF THANKSGIVING

These pillars are the very things that hold our Christian life together. Christ Church of the Valley cannot exist without these three pillars.

We thank God for the great pillar of _____ _____ . (v. 4)

Faith in Jesus Christ assures us of His presence and

blessing.

Faith means:

God looks after us as a Father does his child

God helps us through the trials and temptations of life

  1. God gives us the assurance of eternal salvation.

Jesus Christ put us in touch with God so we can now

become children of God.

We thank God for the pillar of ______ _____ . (v. 4)

This is the pillar of love that Christians have for each other.

This love is based upon the Love of Jesus Christ

This love is stirred by the Holy Spirit, that is a

Supernatural Love.

That means that the Holy Spirit stirs us to love others as Jesus loved us.

We thank God for the pillar of _____ ____. (v.5)

Hope is the reason we first surrender to Christ:

The hope we have of being raised from the dead and being given a new and glorious body just like Christ.

The hope of His coming again.

Thankful people are people who bless others and people who honor the Lord.

THANKFUL PEOPLE HONOR THE LORD

Ps. 100:1 “Make a _____________________ unto the Lord”

Ps. 103: 1-2 “ Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
